Hey buddy,
I for one am not a VR fan. I have used one a few times at Chicago Trax. Sound was very good, layout was nice, board was buggy and needed to be reset all the time. I also dont like using a board for its preamps and as a mixdown. I prefer a rack of preamps and using the board for making a mix or six for the performers to hear. Then they get to hear a much more final mix in their headphones and punches are easier. That being said, I hate to see neve pres sitting idle. I wish Rupert would fix the software and build a board with just line and or digital inputs for mixdown. Why is it still so common to use preamps in a board and use it for mixdown? It used to be so we could bus a bunch of tracks together to save tracks, but with digital that isnt really needed.
