I assume that your fx send is on one or the aux sends, and you're returning the effects into one of the aux returns.
1. Is the effects unit sending a completely wet signal back to the board, or is it a wet/dry mix?
2.Why do you want to mix the effect into 2 different subgroups? If you are sending both guitar and drums to the same effects unit, then the signal you get back will include both guitar and drums. If this is what you want to do, then you should mix it into only one subgroup, or into the main LR mix.
