I have a Zoom MRS 802 digi multitrack recorder and a Behringer 1222 FX PRO 12 channel mixer in my home studio. When I plug in a microphone to either one I get a hum in my headphones. It is only noticeable when I turn up the gain or the volume. I tried completely removing the ground so that I wouldn't get interference from anything around it. I still got the hum. The only way I can make the hum go away is to aim the mic parallel with the equipment, it's like I find a sweet spot and the hum goes away. obviously this is impractical, for instance, if I am micing a drum kit and can't be at the mercy of keeping mics parallel to the equipment. Also, the hum gets louder when I bring it up to my mouth (closer to the headphones).
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm desperate:(
