You wouldn't believe how many times I've walked into mixing a gig where the autoeq function was run and everyone truly thought that what they were getting was great sound. In those instances, I always bypass the eq and the sound is much better for it. Using eq to treat problems with the room acoustics is treating the symptom, not the cause. Don't get me wrong, I use room eq when necessary, and it can be effective enough in getting a handle on acoustical issues when used carefully and modestly. But used grossly, it causes more problems than it helps. Most of the time the autoeq results are next to worthless.
