Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 pro active any good??

Im looking to upgrade my current M-audio Syudiopro 4 that I use with my computer. I am running a Firestone Fubar2 DAC and I use Itunes for playback of apple lossless files. Has anyone else used the Wharfedales?? Im basiocally looking for all around better sound quality , the M-audios are ok but you dont get much volume from them and they break up at louder volumes. Will the Wharfedales be a big step up, Ive heard they are quite similar to the Quad 12l pro actives?? Is this true? Because ive heard the passive Quad 12l and they are excellent, if the Wharfedales are even close to that good they should be a huge improvement over the little m-audios. Please give me any opinions on the Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 acttive or any alternatives in the $500 and under range new or used.
thanks
