Thanks for the report. I'm not running LMS but still good to read up on your findings as it applies to other music server and streamer software.

As a streamer it makes perfect sense that RPi performance beyond a certain level doesn't offer any advantages. In fact, many of us under clock our RPi4 streamers which actually REDUCES its CPU performance but not to a level that affects streaming. The under clocking potentially reduces digital noise and runs the RPi4 cooler w/o needing a fan.

So going with the faster RPi5 as a network streamer is going in the wrong direction IMHO. That's why the RPi4 remains as my streamer while my RPi5 is used for other non-audio related tinkering.

My 'headless' Raspberry Pi 4 network streamer running DietPi OS and Roon Bridge software

Raspberry Pi 4B CPU Governor is set to "conservative". Throttle up is set to 85% CPU usage which means the CPU will throttle
up in speed if CPU utilization reaches 85% or more. It never does even while playing music so CPU speed remains at 600MHz.
The Roon server software runs on a Mac Mini or my NAS in the basement.
