sb3 power upgrade

i read you should get a regulated 5 volt, 1.5 amp power supply for sb3 even if you are justing using the digital out. has anyone done this? does it make a difference? can you suggest a where i can get one?
why would this make a difference in tranmitting ones and zeros??? thanks
