Thanks Frank, I knew I would need a phono stage but I wanted to know about A to D conversion - sorry I wasn't more clear. Short of the Lynx is there much sonic or user friendliness difference between the E-Mu and M-Audio cards? I probably could afford the Hagerman Ripper as a kit so that might be another option. Could I run something cheap an' sleazy like the Chaintech AV-710 just for streaming radio out and use something like the Ripper to record from vinyl?
As to speakers if anyone has heard some of these (powered or passive) I'd appreciate some feedback on how they sound. Unfortunately I live in sticks so they will be tough to audition.
