itunes disc ful message

I have big problem on li 233iMac, and am wondering if someone can help me
I am trying to put some stuff onto my itunes but have hit a wall. I have nearly 300 songs taking up a mere 897 MB. Now when I try to convert new stuff to MP3 I get a message that the disc is full, and the process stops.....
