Soundcards for PC laptops?

Hey everyone, I have an IBM laptop and would like a better connection to my mid-fi system (Rotel amp, Klipsch speakers).
I am wondering if there are any decent sound cards available for this connection. I am using the stock card now and it is garbage. Not looking for an enormous investment here.
