I am a newbie to PC Audio. I am currently using an Acer laptop to play my CD's (my CD player has just died so I am using the laptop as a temporary solution, but if I get good results I may use it with an external DAC). So my question is - how do I get the best sound with the laptop for now? E.g. how should I set the volume to avoid clipping but still get the best resolution? It seems to clip on some music if I set the master volume to max (or CD volume to max). I will be using either windows media player or realplayer and no external DAC for now. What else can I do? Thanks alot!
