I'm currently working on an ethernet network of PCs (server/backend and client/frontend) that will be running linux with MythTV for a distributed PVR and music server setup. Will also have the option to try squeezbox as slimserver also runs on linux.I chose AMD with nvidia 6150 onboard video (much better linux support) in a mATX (small) motherboard form factor. I'm looking to use a Silverstone LC04 case (looks more like HT equipment and is small).
This MSI brand motherboard (see link below) has really good reviews on many sites for HD video playback and S/PDIF audio output. I'm also looking to experiment with usb audio output for 44.1kHz PCM audio (with an external DAC) and will let the motherboard's S/PDIF port handle the DD/DTS output to the HT processor.
