Re:I don't read this as a "digital" complaint

Note that Bob says:

His studio almost certainly recorded them in digital format.

The problem is post-production processing where the sound is messed with so that it competes well on radio, TV and other formats where good dynamic range and a natural frequency response are actually a hindrance in the modern marketplace.
