The post you reffered to had wierd issus with the drives and I don't think that is a fair comparison. But I did find a thread that said SATA was the way to go, but not from a sound standpoint:http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=pcaudio&n=7215&highlight=sata+overkill&r=&session=
250 for a hard drive, OS, memory and DAC/ Card is not a bad deal.
Especially with the advantages it offers over a similiarly priced CDP.
