Can I use both a sound card and a usb DAC?

My computer is in the same room as I am going to setup my main music system. I would like to have a small set of computer speakers to use for gaming and watching movies hooked up to the SB X-fi as well as having an external usb DAC for playing music through my main system. Is this doable, or will the conflict with each other? I know this may seem pointless, but my computer system is set up on one end of the room and the music system on the other so if I connected the computer to the main rig the sound would be coming from behind me. It just works out better if I have two seperate systems.
