I use .wav. Talk about universal...everything plays .wavs.

And with the price of drives being so cheap, it is something like 17 cents a cd or less to rip to .wav. (A 250 gig Samsung Spin point drive at New Egg was $85, or 34 cents a gig. Each CD is roughly 1/2 gig, so 17 cents per disk- just an example, but gives you an idea about .wavs being affordable.)

That is what I chose, and that was back when prices were about a $1 a gig.

Are you using Media player to play things back?
