I'm not a Mac guy but a G5 is not a laptop right ? Therefore, you could install an M-Audio 2496 PCI soundcard then run a 75 ohm video/digital cable to your CDP's digital input. I run a cable about 40' out of my M-Audio card to an external DAC. The soundcard is commonly available used on ebay for under $100.00. If you like the sound of your CDP/DAC, then this would be a good way to go. Probably your cheapest option also.
