davehg, the problem with digital out from PC or Mac comes from PC running the clock. If you relegate this task to an external reclocker/upsampler and use glass toslink cables from PC to reclocker (to isolate from PC noise) and glass toslink/high quality Coax to DAC, it will blow SB out of the water, plus provide the convenience of large computer display.$120 Behringer Ultramatch 2496 will do the trick of providing accurate internal clock. It is left to personal taste to add 96/24 upsampling.
SB3 is great stuff to bring music around the house. But when PC and DAC are in the same room, PC+Reclocker+DAC is perhaps a more versatile option.
