I checked the brochure, it does have ethernet jacks to connect to other PCs on the network and digital out for external DAC.It also has USB ports, but it is not clear from the brochure whether this can be used to connect external USB hard drives or not. When in doubt, ALWAYS ask before purchase and make sure return policy is good enough.
If brochure is right, you may use other PCs on the network for file storage and 640H as playback device or digital out to external dac.
The looks are gorgeous. However, the cost of this server is around $1500. I guess it makes a good sense for people who would like to use it as a stand alone solution (without external DAC) and for folks who find 160GB internal storage sufficient enough. Mind that hard drives need space to "breathe" and 160GB gross is good for around net 120gb of real storage (200 CDs)What we do not know from the brochure is how noisy internal hard drive is. Maybe it is silent, maybe not. I would not buy this device without good return policy.
