I am very happy with my MA-1 amps, over the last ten years, upgraded to 3.2 version. Better tubes pay off, not only the driver tubes but also the output tubes, so I have liked the sound better with NOS RCA output tubes than the stock tubes, changing all 28 of them. As well as the 8 driver tubees.
I often turn on the amps to standby, yellow light, but it often takes some time until I play music.
My question is, in general terms, how much does this standby time cost me, regarding tube life?
Is the burden on the tubes much the same as if the amps were ON (red light), maybe half, or very low? Maybe this burden differs for the output and drives tubes? I am not asking for exact numbers, of course, more like some overall 'best practice' rules. Since NOS tubes are costly.
