RE: Transformer type - now general PSU question .

I'm trying to get my head and wallet around the PSU 'design' for the output stage. The amp's going to be a circlotron using 6c33c's - so how much hum should I aim for on the supply rails bearing in mind the two phases will cancel out common mode noise. Ideally I'd like none - or at least nothing audable . .

I'm going to run AC heaters so there's bound to be some pickup from heater / cathode coupling as well so going totally over the top with capacitors and chokes to knock it down to millivolt level is probably over kill.

Any input to save unnecessay expense gratefully received !
