I use Cree SIC in everywhere it's possible: in tubed output CD player, tube tuner, and OTL power supply.
Snubbers helps to reduce noice common with classic silicon diodes. Fortunatelly SIC doesn't require snubbers at all. Previously I used rather costly copper and silver PIOs for snubbers, but they also have their sonic signature added.
The only exception where I can't use SIC is the rectifier part of the 7241/7242 tubes in the OTL. It's till a 50A classical silicon diode bridge. Unfortunatelly there is no easy to available SIC diode on the market today in the 50 - 100 amper range.
I can't confirm the failure problem's with Crees. They work fine for years without any problem.
