Connecting XLR and RCA's to MA1s?

OTL, Output Transformerless Amplifier User Group.

Maybe this is crazy, but I am currently running an XLR phonostage with volume control directly into the MA1. Could I also connect a preamp output to the RCA input, or at least leave the RCA input connected (but no signal feeding) while playing the phono via XLR?
Maybe none of this makes any sense?
