Hi all - Phasing of the Driver stage filaments . My amps have seperate toroid windings for this , and I realise this has been brought up before . Not wanting to repeat all the other threads & answers , so I just will share my findings once more .
After much listening in a quiet room , and amps very hot , I noticed just before packup that one channel ( amp ) was noisier than the other . The newest amp had more noise evident , so I remebered an experiment that I had done with the first amp . I swapped the driver filament windings over , and bingo - no humm . So phasing of this winding is important if you are using a seperate supply for the driver stage filaments . I guess its placing the sinewave out of sync to the output section , so as to humm buckle the result ?? I havnt had time to place the scope on this , to see whats happening . What is evident though , is the silence that both amps now have .
