I also had the Caddock resistor upgrade done to my MA1 silver editions, along with the addition of resistors across ...I can't remember exactly, some part of the output tubes, most of you will know what I'm talking about...I also thought it to be a significant upgrade. Smoother is a good word for it. Less peaky or aggressive in the upper midrange, things like flutes, women's voices, violins. They are all easier to listen to now, less listener fatigue. Perhaps more detail, I'm not sure. It seemed expensive at the time, especially not knowing how the sound would be changed, but I now think it was very worthwhile. I thought it made a bigger difference than changing from stock Chinese tubes (with probably a lot of hours on them)to new EH tubes. I suppose it is possible that during the period of time the amplifiers were in the shop, I forgot what they sounded like, but I don't think so. The difference I heard was very specific, and was the only thing that I didn't like about the amps before I sent them out, and was very pleased to hear that trait was gone on their return.
