I am having fun Modding my MP-3 Atma-Sphere. I installed V-caps. The sound is much more open amd dynamic.
I have a ACK DACK and want to remove the output caps.
Question
Does the MP-3 have input caps?
This is what Chis from ACK wrote me:Bryan,
It will depend on the current draw of the tube amp (e.g., input impedance).
The output Z of the dAck! is extremely low, but it will not want to sink too
much current, else your battery life will drop considerably. Do not exceed
+/-40mA at the output or you will blow the output drivers. I would suggest
putting a series resistor of 500ohms at the output to limit the current to a
safe value, though any significant capacitance to ground will cause some
rolloff in the highs. Most tube preamps have caps before the input stage
which blocks DC so you could then certainly run direct to your preamp
without any worries.I should remind you that doing any modifications or running the dAck! not as
intended would void your warranty so thin k about the modifications
carefully.Best,
