I have a pair of MA-240's. Over the years I have heard that there were 9 of these built. Mine are pretty much stock except for not using the 12AT7's (4 of them). I never liked the sound of them. In this application I always thought that they kind of had a mid range suckout, good bass and sometimes bright. The tubes I settled with are the G.E.6829.
They are the best sounding amps I have ever used. Six 6C33C-B's per amp for a total of 12. They will warm your heart and your room. Just the thing for cold Michigan winters. Front end is an MP3 which I acquired through Audiogon. It is the preamp review sample of Sue's, which she reviewed in TAS.
I do not scour the internet for equipment any more. I have finially reached that place where I can enjoy the music.
