My MA-1s, that I built eight years ago, are completely silent through the speakers. The
transformers themselves make a little mechanical noise.I once had Berning EA2-150 power amps, that had a low-level buzz in the output, probably
similar to yours. I demonstrated the origin of this by simply wiring up a temporary D-cell
battery supply for the filaments of the voltage gain and driver tubes. The buzz went away.A possible cause of your problem is coupling of rectifier noise from the high voltage
windings of the driver supply transformer to the filament winding and then through the
heater-cathode parasitic capacitance of the voltage gain and/or driver tubes.From your post, it sounds like you have the skills to repeat my experiment on your amp.
