Very few people would pair a $3300 preamp with $3000 cables. Nevertheless, one could intriguingly ask if a properly chosen IC might allow a $3300 preamp to outperform a $6300 one (paired with a well chosen inexpensive cable)?
I would love to believe that cabling doesn't make a difference with Atma-Sphere electronics. I, however, have not had the personal experience, nor have I come across a sufficiently compelling testimonial, that would allow me to consider this question settled.
My personal experience with different ICs between a Wadia CDP and M60mk2.2s revealed easily heard, and important, differences with the few $250/M cables I tried. I have not experimented with different ICs between my MP-3 and M60s. Has anyone in this group?
