thanks for the info. The ones you owned were the ones with 4 big Russian Triodes per monoblock, correct? My assumption was that they should still deliver about half their rated power into 4 ohms. Since they are rated 100 watts into 8ohms that would mean around 50 watts into the Apogees (plenty actually). I was also thinking of trying the Speltz autoformers as well and see if they make a significant degradation to the sound.
