Unless someone else knows that ALL Sidereal caps were made in one way so that you can rely on the direction of the label to determine orientation, you will first have to determine which lead is attached to the outer foil and which lead is attached to the inner one. Then, once you have that information, for coupling purposes you want the lead connected to the inner foil to be "upstream" and the other to be "downstream" (soldered to the next circuit element). For bypassing, you want the opposite orientation. I have at the moment forgotten the rationale for this recommendation. I think there is an explanation on the Auricap site. Meantime, if you have been using this cap for 8 years in-circuit, I would NOT change its orientation at this time; it is thoroughly broken in to be used as is. Also, orientation of a nonpolar film or oil cap is NOT critical to sound quality in my experience; the difference between getting it right or getting it wrong is barely audible, and any one individual might actually prefer the "incorrect" orientation. You should probably find something else to worry about. Please do not confuse the above with the importance of proper orientation of a polar electrolytic cap, where orientation is critical and incorrect orientation will destroy the capacitor in short order.
