Our sister company, Rendition Audio, makes a guitar amplifier. Guitar amplifiers have to be clipped (overdriven) on a routine basis. Generally, our OTLs and those of Rendition Audio clip with a very smooth character as odd-ordered harmonics do not produced until the amp is in hard saturation. This is fabulous for guitar, BTW.http://www.renditionaudio.com/evolution.html
IOW, our OTLs have a soft-clipping character that is less harsh then that of a transformer-coupled amplifier, so in effect you get a greater percentage of usable power by comparison to a transistor amplifier, which sounds harsh (due to odd-ordered harmonic content) long before clipping.
