I don't have the Avanti III's, but I do use the MA1 Mkll to drive Audio Physic
Caldera speakers. I am using two Entec subwoofers, also, but they have their
own built-in amplifiers. The room is a room within a room (courtesy of some
extensive RPG room treatment). Effectively, it is 18'x15'x8'. I listen mostly
to classical music : Orchestral, chamber, vocal, instrumental. Also a lot of
smaller jazz groups. The MA1 Mkll's are certainly enough for the Calderas, and
with the Zeros, which I have just bought but not yet used, the bass response
will be better than it is now (without the Entecs). I, too, am looking at the
Minos. The midrange and top end cannot easily be bettered. There is certainly
enough power in the MA1 Mkll, but you should know that I hate loud listening.
Live concerts are how I measure the loudness I need, from mid hall, although
I admit no audio system I have heard over 40 years equals a live concert experience. For me, the MA2 Mk2 would be unnecessary, especially with Paul's
Zeros, but if you like your music at extra loud volume, the MA2 Mkll will give you more control and accommodate dynamic swings much better.
