The actual measured input impedance if the S-30 is just under 200K balanced and 100K single-ended.You will measure about 200K across pins 2 & 3 of the XLR connector, with the amp turned off. This is because you're actually measuring the two 100K input stage grid resistors in series, through chassis ground.
Yes, given a preamp with a robust output driver stage, like the MP-3, 600 ohm termination, at the input of the S-30, is recommended.
