MP3: Lower noise with 6SL7?

Since the 6SL7 has higher gain (I think) than the 6SN7, could you use the former in the MP3 and be able to reduce the volume control and have lower apparent noise when listening to phono?
BTW, the new Jensen 347 transformers are excellent!
