Tom: I have had a completely different experience with Zeros as an interface between my Sound Lab M1s and my Atma-sphere MA240s, using no NFB. Initially, there was a bit of coloration in the form of a slight edginess to the midrange and highs, but since break-in has been completed, I now detect essentially nothing in the way of altered tonal balance or any other aspects of the sonics, using the Zeros at 2X multiplication. (To double-check their neutrality, I recently removed the Zeros from the system for about a week and then re-inserted them; there are no discernible negative effects related to the use of Zeros in my system.) This surprises me, too, since I do subscribe to the theory that there is no "free lunch" in audio. Perhaps the large amounts of NFB implemented in the Transcendant amplifiers is causing you to have a different result. Perhaps also Mark, or Al, or Paul could comment on this possibility. The possibility that amplifier NFB interacts with Zeros could be checked using an amp with adjustable NFB, or if you can borrow an Atma-sphere amp.....
