I was running my Vandersteen 4A with the M60 MkII driving the top is a biamp arrangement. I used Paul's Zeros because the Vandy 4A dips to 4 ohms. I used a pair of Adcom amps for the bottom (double 12 woofers). The sound was heavenly. I have a 2 year old son so I had to hide the amps behind the Entertainment center. Well one day I went back there to bias the M60 and realized that my little one had been back there twiddling with my stuff. So I had to move the M60 to another room. So now I am using a vertical biamp arrangement with two Odyssey Stratos solid state amps.
The Vandy 5s are a different animal altogether from the 4A so I don't know how well it would work with the M60 but if I have to guess, it would sound great driving the top as the 5s has a built-in amp for the subs.
I talked to Richard Vandersteen once about biamping my 4A and he strongly recommended using tube amps for the top.
