Thanks, Paul.As with all things to do with computers, errors creep in. Ralph's Figure 4 in the Atma-Sphere White Paper (url link) is missing a section of the line that should connect the load to the right side of the diamond (bridge). The load is thus connected to the negative terminals of two independent power supplies. The dc current for each tube flows through the load, but the current for the top tube in the diagram flows from left to right, while the current for the bottom tube flows from right to left. The currents are the same magnitude (the amplifier contains provisions to adjust them to be the same), so they cancel in the load. Note that the two resistors shown in the diagram provide a shunt path to the load; the grounding is arbitrary and is only relevant for the design of the driver stage.
