This is a friendly forum because we respect each other's taste in speaker selection. I would not own Inner Sound ESLs or Carver Amazing speakers, and I'm sure Mike and Mark would not own Magnepans, but we can communicate the different aspects of wonderfulness that Atma-Sphere OTL amps provide. Thanks to Paul Speltz, the range of speaker types and models that can be made to sound wonderful with OTL amps is even wider than it was before. There are practical limits to what any amplifier topology can be made to do. I mean this with respect and in a friendly spirit: the Inner Sound speakers cannot, in my opinion, be made to sound wonderful with Atma-Sphere amplifiers. You could not inhabit a room with two pairs of MA-3s, unless you were spending the winter at the South Pole, but it might take that to get sufficient drive capability.
Every year at CES there are transistor amps that are as big as doghouses and that get too hot to touch in normal operation. One of these might give satisfactory sound. With smaller, cooler, transistor amps, the problems of transistor depletion region modulation start to dominate the character of the sound. Avoiding this is one of the basics of OTL wonderfulness, so this is likely a barren topic for the ASOG forum.
