Adam,I unfortunately have not had the opportunity to hear the S-30 yet, so I can not compare it to the larger A-S amps. Looking at the inside view on A-S's web site, it looks like the circuitry used is the same except for the absence of the Constant Current Source (CCS) tube that the large siblings have, and of course less output tubes. I have to imagine that it is a great sounding amplifier, provided you don't ask it to drive a low impedance load.
I know of one person that went from a S-30 to M-60s. I will look through my notes, and if I can remember who it is, I will let you know. Maybe he can help discern any sound quality differences.
