Biasing MA1 mk2

I got a different reading when biasing my MA1 mk2.
When the balance input were connected it reads 700mA, but when I disconnect the input , the bias became as low as 350mA without any adjusment from the first reading. I always disconnect the speaker and replace it with DMM. Any suggestion the cause of this?
