I auditioned my (now sold for M-60s) S-30 on a pair of Avantgarde Unos. It was dead silent with CD and a trace of noise was evident with phono input and no signal. This was using my former single-ended preamp. Presumably it would only get better with in a fully balanced configuration. I realize that the Trios are significantly more efficient than Unos, but it should give you an idea. It sounded DAMNED good, by the way.You probably know that you can remove pairs of the 6AS7s from Atma-sphere amps for decreased power. I wonder what Trios or similar would sound like with only one or two tubes per side? Hope this helps.
Mike
