Based on the advice given, I disconnected the inputs from the MP-1. It was powered up in the proper sequence which was followed by switching on the amplifiers. The hum/buzz is still there. My suspicion is that something is going on with the output connection, that jerry-rigged arrangement purchased at Radio Shack. I guess it's out to the garage and the soldering iron, unless there is something available on Sunday in Los Angeles. Last night I tried connecting the amp to a different power outlet, which only succeeded in making a worse noise. When not connected together to the MP-1, the amps' sound is barely audible.
