No, I did not remove the footers. Basically, the stand platform is smaller than the amp dimensions. The amp sits on top of this platform and since its is smaller, the feet do not contact it. Only the bottom plate of the chassis does. I suspect this has something to do with the 'flex' in the amp chassis. If you put footers (stock or otherwise) on the out side four corners, there is more flex compared to supporting it in the center of the chassis.The maple blocks I have come from Ikea's kitchen department, so my wife tells me.
I do know that local specialty wood companies (found in the yellow pages) have different types of maple, and will make up blocks for a customer.
