I recently bought a set of 1940's vintage Sylvania VT-231's, They were from a reliable seller and tested great by him. One of the matched pairs failed from the start in my M60 (latest version) and a second pair failed after about one hour. The output from the amp was very low and distorted.Sent them back and they re-tested perfectly and work fine in a test amp (not an Atmasphere). The seller mentioned that these older VT-231's are only rated up to around 300 plate volts and the M60's may be running higher than that.
Anyone have a similar experience?
