very loud buzz/hum

When my right channel M60 MKII amp is in standby, there seems to be no problem. The second I flip on the operate (amber) switch, there is a very loud noise from the speaker. All of the cables are fitted tight. The noise is not affected by the preamp, and continues for a few seconds after being turned off. Any suggestions to help me solve this would be helpful.
