The approach you recommend to eliminate the faint hissing sound might or might not work and could cost lots of bucks with no improvement. If you want to argue that vintage 6SN7s will be sonically superior overall to the Sovteks and therefore worth the money, then you may have a point. (I have no aural experience of the Sovteks, so this is not a put-down.) But I personally wouldn't proceed on that course JUST to get rid of the hiss. It might be worthwhile and less expensive just to replace like tubes with like (in other words, try new Sovteks) to determine whether the hiss emanates from a defective tube.
