My favorite tubes for the MK I version is to replace the 12AT7s and 12AU7 with 6CG7s. The 6CG7 is the electrical equivalent to the 6SN7. You will need to add a zener diode and change a resistor value associated with V3. The 6CG7 filament does not have a center tap, so you'll need to hook up the filaments across pins 4 & 5 only. Pin 5 is shield between the tube sections, so you'd do well to hook it up to your star ground. Finally, if you change V4's plate resistor to 3K it the amps will sound even better. I guess you could call this MK 1.5 upgrade. Once completed, most all the other MK II tweaks, in the Tweaks section of the ASOG page are applicable.
