Subwoofer connection

I am using an MP-3 and M-60s and just purchased a pair of Magnepan 1.6QRs and want to try my subwoofer with them. The system is connected with balanced interconnects, but the sub uses RCAs. Can I jump the sub off the RCA inputs on the amps. I tried it briefly and it worked, but I quickly unhooked it, fearing I may be harming something.
