whats wrong with 6C33-B power output tube? (longish)

Hello folks,

Been monitoring this page for a just a few weeks now and see that with regards to amplifiers, most, if not all posts refer to the M60 series. I am curious as to why this is, as I see that most of the folks that post are builders and Atma-Sphere has another kit, namely the Novacron. But there is never any mention of it here. I also note that there is a lot of talk about the 6336, a hard to find tube (I think).
Related perhaps, but not only are there no posts about the Novacron, there is absolutely no talk about its output tube, the 6C33C-B.
I am curious why folks looking for more power (lower impedance) would bypass the 6C33C-B, an output tube that is (or was) plentiful, reasonably priced (I guess), in favor of the 6336? Is the 6C33C-B that bad? Hard to drive, hard to balance, unreliable, too hot, wont fit, etc..?

With regards to the Novacron, maybe its those 12AT7?s!

Also, does anyone know why Atma-Sphere does not include a power supply schematic in their M60-II assembly manual? I purchased one and found its omission curious. No big deal though.

As for myself, I am very close to finishing my first homebrew project, a single ended amplifier using the #45 power triode. It was published in Sound Practices by Gorden Rankin and is called the "Bugle".
I was thinking that the next project would be a roughly 25 watt OTL as that would be about the right power output needed for one of the sets of speakers I own.

Anyway folks, thanks!

Curt
